Panorama Dietitians is situated in the Panorama Medical Centre and Tygervalley Virgin Active Club.


3 Dietitians are available to help you with specific dietary counseling:

1. Dianne Ivison

Qualification:

I completed my B.Sc Dietetics degree at the University of Stellenbosch in 1999.

Experience:

My journey at Panorama Medi Clinic started in 2002, and I have been seeing patients in hospital and in our practice ever since. I have also been fortunate to help write numerous nutrition related articles for magazines such as Shape, Femina and You. I have been an ADSA member since my student days and was chairperson of the Association for Dietetics (ADSA) Western Cape (2009-2011).

Special areas of interest:

My special interests include working with children who are over or under weight, fussy eaters and those struggling with gastro-intestinal problems such as constipation.  I am passionate about helping patients struggling with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (spastic colon). I am also responsible for our kidney dialysis patients and working out their special needs diet.

About:

My hobbies include cooking, teaching Sunday School and walking the family dog. I am passionate about people and encouraging a healthier lifestyle without the focus being on weight and dieting.

Favourite food:

Raw nuts, artichokes and anything Mediterranean.

 

2. Berna Harmse:

 Qualification:

I completed my B.Sc Dietetics degree at the University of Potchefstroom in 2004 and obtained my Masters in Nutrition degree in 2007 at the University of Potchefstroom (The role of inflammation on the metabolic syndrome).

Experience:

I completed my community service year in 2005 at the Witrand Hospital. I have been in private practice at Panorama Medi-Clinic, Cape Town since 2006. I see hospital patients on a referral basis (special Interests are oncology and critical care nutrition) and private practice patients. I am also involved at the University of Stellenbosch Tygerberg Campus on a regular basis as external lecturer for undergraduate students and external examiner and supervisor for matersí degree students. I also do a lot of media work like contributing to various radio interviews and articles in magazines and media24. I was the president of the South African Dietetics association (ADSA: 2011-2013) and the treasurer of SASPEN (the South African Society for Parenteral and Enteral nutrition) and serve on the editorial board of the South African Journal of Clinical Nutrition (SAJCN). I have been an ADSA member since 2006 and was the ADSA Executive committee CPD Portfolio representative in 2009-2011.

Special areas of interest:

Feeding those who canít feed themselves in ICU (critical care) and nutrition in cancer (oncology) as well as post surgery medical nutrition therapy patients.

About:

I enjoy reading and any crafts. I am a passionate about dietetics as a profession and enjoy sharing clear and concise nutrition messages to the public.

Favourite food:

Mexican food or anything hot!

 

3. Brigitte Leclercq

Qualification:

I completed my B.Sc Dietetics degree at the University of Stellenbosch in 2011. I am currently busy with my Masters in Nutrition through the University of the Free State (based on kidney nutrition).

Experience:

I completed my community service year in 2012 at Frere Hospital in East London. I have been working in private practice since January 2013. I see patients and gym members at Tygervalley Virgin Active Club, Panorama Hospital on a referral basis, Panorama Medical Centre,  and do the Discovery Vitality Nutrition Assessments. I also see patients at the Stellenbosch University Campus Health (including sports nutrition). I am responsible for updating our Facebook page on a regular basis (http://facebook.com/PanoramaDietitians/info ).I enjoy the impact of positive media through many nutritional talks, radio talks, Wellness Days, magazine and newspaper articles that I have contributed towards. I am a member of the Association for Dietetics of South Africa (ADSA) and I am an ADSA media spokesperson.

Special areas of interest:

I enjoy educating people on how to lead a healthy lifestyle as it is often challenging in todayís fast paced society.  I love sports nutrition and I can personally relate to challenges in sports nutrition as I am a keen runner. I like seeing people with diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and weight issues. I also have a passion for seeing people with kidney failure and helping these patients follow a practical renal diet

About:

I enjoy running, baking and outdoor activities.  I enjoy leading a healthy lifestyle with my family and friends. I have a personal drive and enthusiasm for nutrition.
